We mix text and tables, we get TreeSheets — a wonderful tool for taking notes

We have written a lot about various tools that help both collect information of various kinds and manage it. Today I will present a program that struck me with the freshness of the approach to the organization of information.

TreeSheets is a small program with great features. Judge for yourself — it is based on the use of cells, as in Excel. But it is focused on working more with text. Moreover, the structure — that is, the order, number, nesting of cells and tables into each other is created and managed very simply, I would even say — frighteningly simple. At the same time, you practically do not need a mouse, which is logical if you are working with text.

An excellent implementation of a combination of text and a table is not all. The second extremely interesting solution I see is an approach to creating documents without rewinding (scroll). That is, the authors clearly made it their goal to create a tool that would make it possible to realize the manager's dream — the document does not need to be rewound and flipped, while it contains all the necessary information. How did they do it?

The authors just took and used the mouse wheel not to rewind, but to change the scale. That is, if you are currently not interested in a cell or an entire table, reduce it. It will remain noticeable at the same time and in which case you will be able to look for details at the wave of your finger on the wheel.

I am seriously thinking about changing the local Wiki to TreeSheet — I like this « navigation without navigation» much more. Formatting, pictures, simplicity and intuitiveness, coupled with the possibilities of importing/ exporting and reorganizing information, are captivating.

TreeSheet runs on Windows and is completely free.
