On May 25, Sony lifted the embargo on publishing the first reviews of the cartoon "Spider-Man: The Web of Universes" — the sequel to the successful "Spider-Man: Across the Universes" 2018. Here's what critics and journalists who got to the pre-screenings write.

1. "Okay, "Spider-Man: Web of Universes" is more than just a masterpiece. This is a real work of art. Every frame deserves to hang in a museum. The jokes and references to the comic book lore are great. This is an outstanding film, the best about Spider-Man. It's probably my favorite movie of all time."

Sean O'Connell, CinemaBlend

2. "Spider-Man: Across the Universes has set the bar high thanks to its unique animation and storytelling style. When he first came out, it seemed impossible to surpass it. You didn't guess. The Web of Universes raises its own bar once again."

3. "This is a new milestone for animation. Yes, it looks great and stuns visuals, but it also surpasses the original, bringing Miles and his family to the fore. Gwen Stacy deservedly got more screen time, becoming the second main character."

Andrew J. Salazar, DiscussingFilm

4. "I absolutely fell in love with The Web of Universes. About a hundred times I wanted to pause the movie to study the magnificent visual. I highly recommend it for viewing and I can't wait for the next session myself — already in IMAX."

Steven Weintraub, Collider

However, not everyone was delighted with the sequel.

5. "No matter how much I wanted to love The Web of Universes, from my point of view it failed to reach the heights of the original — mainly because of the priority of the fanservice instead of the whole plot. The film feels like the first of two parts, which by the end becomes quite predictable. In itself, it is not particularly outstanding, but it can serve as a good basis for a magnificent completion of the trilogy."

In the world box office, the cartoon starts on June 2. Will you watch?
