Law enforcement agencies of the Apennine Peninsula accuse Apple of concealing taxes in the amount of more than 1 billion euros. During the investigation currently underway in Italy, searches took place at the local Apple office, during which computer equipment was seized. This is reported by the Italian website L’Espresso

Italian tax authorities were interested in the Apple company's reporting for 2010 and 2011. According to fiscal authorities, Apple hid taxes from the authorities for 206 and 854 million euros in 2010 and 2011, respectively. Sources in the Italian judicial system also confirm that the accusation has indeed been made.

The prosecution claims that Apple illegally attributed part of the profits to its Irish holding company, while this income was received in Italy. An investigation is also underway against two middle managers from Apple's head office in Cupertino.

It is reported that Apple has filed an appeal to the court against the seizure of property carried out after searches in the company's Milan office. Nothing is known about the timing of the appeal.

L’Espresso claims that this is not the first time that the Italian authorities suspect Apple of tax evasion. However, the first case was closed due to lack of hard evidence.
