Google Authenticator has learned how to synchronize codes via the cloud

The Google Authenticator application, used to store one-time access codes to protect the account, now supports backup and synchronization between devices using a Google account.

Thanks to this improvement, one-time passwords can now be stored in the cloud, so if you lose your device with the Google Authenticator app installed, you won't lose access to all your authentication codes.

Prior to the integration of Google account support, all the codes in the Authenticator application were stored on the device, which created problems in case of loss of the device.

Google says that users are now "better protected from blocking." Account integration is already available on iOS and Android devices. Activation of the function will require authorization in the application, after which all codes will be automatically copied and restored on any new device where you log in to your Google account.
