Apple has to deal with malfunctions in the work of the iPhone and iPod – after all, the Directorate of the European Commission for Consumer Protection has already demanded to consider the issue. The reason for such attention to the problems in the operation of the smartphone and the player were the cases of explosions.
Initially, an 18-year-old French teenager complained that his girlfriend's iPhone exploded and injured his eye. Then a resident of the Netherlands reported that his smartphone exploded right on the seat of the car and burned the upholstery. Finally, the 47-year-old Briton said that his daughter's iPod started making hissing sounds and exploded when it was thrown aside.
Customers blame Apple for the shortcomings, but the company's representatives confidently assert that if there is a problem, it lies in lithium-ion batteries. These batteries are used in portable devices like phones and laptops because they are more powerful, but at the same time they heat up more. And it was the heating that could provoke an explosion – and it was the battery, not the phone. And then, only if the battery warmed up significantly more than 45 degrees Celsius.
Interestingly, Apple, having provided for this problem, integrated a switch into its gadgets that automatically triggers when the battery overheats. And if the phone explodes, it's because the switch didn't work.
Also, Apple employees have doubts at all about the fact that the phones really exploded. For example, a video on the Internet with a recording of a smartphone explosion showed that the iPhone worked even after this very explosion. In general, the Apple team agreed to investigate: but only to study the exploded smartphones to understand what the problem was.
