8 simple tips for freelancers to increase productivity

When you are working on an urgent project and you need to do everything, it is easy to forget about the simplest things that support your health, well-being, and therefore the result of your work.

1. Sit far enough away from the monitor

Your eyes do not deserve cruelty – do not sit too close to the monitor, otherwise you will soon need glasses. Be more far-sighted; in fact, you can choose a greater distance from the eyes and work at the computer as comfortably as before.

2. Maintain a comfortable posture

Spend money on a good chair with a comfortable back and armrests, which will help you keep your back straight – and try not to slouch, because being in a hunched position causes pain in the spine, and subsequently violations in posture. The older you are, the more seriously you should take it.

3. Select the distance to the keyboard

You should not reach for the keyboard or, conversely, bend over it. When typing, put your elbows on the armrests so that they don't get too tired.

4. Install the monitor correctly

The computer monitor should be at eye level. If it is higher or lower, your neck has to strain – this causes spasms.

5. Lighting

The lighting in the room in which you work should match the brightness of the monitor. Otherwise, the eyes strain too much, and vision deteriorates. It is especially harmful to work in the dark when the monitor is the only light source.

6. Don't eat at your desk

It may be unnecessary to remind you about this, but you will be surprised when you find out how many people actually eat and drink in the workplace. This is not only dangerous for the car, but also harmful for yourself, because this way you can practically not get out from behind the computer, and you need to take breaks. Dining at the table, you kill two birds with one stone: you eat calmly without the risk of flooding the keyboard and give rest to the body.

7. Stay away from what's bothering you

The work of a freelancer is a double–edged sword: the comfort of home conditions is often overlapped by noise and inconvenience, if you have, for example, small children. Therefore, try to work in a quiet place away from the living room and the nursery: this will save your ears and nerves.

8. Diet

One of the most useful tips: do not drink carbonated drinks and food containing a large amount of sugar. It gives you a lot of energy, but then it quickly takes it away, and you can't work productively all day.
