Zinio: subscribe to electronic versions of magazines and save money

I am friends with my laziness and respect it very much. She sometimes helps me not to make unnecessary gestures and not to produce entropy. Take for example the glossy press. It is economically inexpedient to send Russian publications to Kiev. Therefore, the most interesting magazines are bought in the passage on the Square of Glory (a shopping dungeon in the city center) and less often on Petrovka. But laziness, I repeat.

I was very happy when I saw the Zinio app for iPad, and later for iPhone. I used the desktop version of this application probably in 2004, when I wanted to read about what FastCompany and Business 2.0 are writing about.

Let's take a look at Zinio (universal application, for iPad and iPhone). At first there were one or two Russian-language editions, of course, of the publishing house IM Sanoma Magazines. In my opinion, it was Cosmopolitan and NG. By the way, a subscription to National Geographic Russia for only 686 rubles is captivating ;) Now there are about 20 editions of different houses in the catalog, and the list continues to grow. And how many English-speaking!

How the process happens. Download the free app, register. In the Settings menu —> International Stores, select the language of interest and see which publications in this language are delivered to the iPad. You can buy one number, you can buy an annual subscription. To subscribe, the application transfers us to the Zinio website where the card processing takes place. After successfully debiting the money, we return to the Zinio application, where the first issue of the magazine is already waiting for us. You will receive messages about the availability of new numbers by e-mail.

What's on my iPad right now: Esquire, National Geographic and Robb Report and Harvard Business Review. I'm thinking about subscribing to Popular Mechanics, Smart Money and Macworld — but it's not clear yet when to have time to read all this.

The topic for trolling: paper is old school, a new magazine smells nice, excites the process of waiting-going out on a hunt-returning home with a heavy prey. I agree with everything, I am happy to read paper ones on occasion, but let's go back to the beginning of the note — I am lazy.

To summarize. Read magazines on your iPad and on your computer (MacOSX, Windows, Linux). Faster, greener, lazier — isn't this the definition of a life hack?
