News In Levels — is a website for practical English language learning based on reading and listening to news stories. At the same time, each news is specially adapted for the correct perception by students of different levels of training. As you can see in the screenshot above, there are three buttons for selecting the level of knowledge near each announcement.
The first level is a shortened text consisting of simple monosyllabic sentences. The text is composed in such a way that new words are repeated several times, which contributes to their better memorization. In addition, below we see an audio track on which the announcer slowly and separately reads the text of the message.
The second level is a slightly longer text written in a more lively language. There are already more complex and diverse words, and the speaker reads the text at a normal pace.
And finally, the third level gives us the same news in the form in which it can be found in an ordinary English newspaper. Here you can already find quite complex sentences, specific abbreviations, slang and metaphors. Instead of a specially well-read audio track, the news is accompanied by a real news clip from television.
Website News In Levels is not exactly suitable for learning English from scratch, but it is a great tool for those who want to deepen their knowledge and learn how to put it into practice. With its help, you can expand your vocabulary, improve your understanding of written speech, as well as learn listening comprehension and even correct pronunciation if you try to repeat the text after the speaker. The resource can also be useful for teachers looking for educational material for their lessons.
