Microsoft has announced the next update for Windows 11, known as 23H2. It will be gradually distributed starting from September 26th. Here are the main improvements.
One of the key changes was the AI assistant based on artificial intelligence Copilot. It will be displayed in the sidebar on the desktop. Requests can be typed in text or voiced.
The chatbot will allow users of the system to get answers to various questions, launch applications and use some of their functions. For example, it will help you quickly create a text message using data from an Outlook calendar or insert a screenshot into an Adobe application. Microsoft assures that AI is already deeply integrated into the system, so Copilot will be the most useful tool at the start. The redesigned file manager Explorer will have a more modern interface with large thumbnails of files and a carousel interface that will display the latest files and selected documents. Thanks to these changes, the program will better fit into the overall design of Windows 11, the company noted.
The updated Windows Backup application will allow you to create backups of your computer whenever you want to upgrade to a new device. This tool will allow you to automatically apply existing settings to a new PC. Pinned apps in the Start menu and taskbar will also be migrated, and all apps from the Microsoft Store will be automatically restored.
The basic photo viewing application will receive an artificial intelligence-based feature that allows you to blur the background on the pictures. It will be possible to adjust the intensity of the blurring or even change the blurred areas.
With the update, the Snipping Tool will be able to detect text in screenshots and allow you to share it in applications. This is similar to the copy text from images feature available on Android or iOS. Microsoft has also added the ability to automatically edit and hide emails and phone numbers in screenshots.
The Paint application, as promised earlier, will receive support for layers and transparency, including the ability to open and save PNG images. This will allow you to overlay some elements on others, combine them and duplicate them.
Microsoft also highlighted an innovation for stylus users — the Ink Anywhere feature. It will allow you to write by hand in any input field, and the OS will convert what is written into text and use it where necessary.
Other changes include built-in support for RAR and 7-Zip archives, an improved volume mixer, automatic text saving in Notepad, and a new Dynamic Lighting settings menu that allows you to control the backlight of supported devices.
We are waiting for this update next week.
