Progress does not stand still, and recently translators working in augmented reality mode have become the most relevant. If you are not familiar with such developments on Android, then the Word Lens Lite application is suitable as a free trial.
Working with a translator is very simple: you just point the smartphone camera at the text, and the translation is displayed on the screen in real time.
The obvious advantage of Word Lens is the absence of the need for an Internet connection, since dictionaries are initially present in the application. In addition, the translation is carried out on the fly, so you don't need to take a picture either.
Unfortunately, at the moment, the disadvantages of the application greatly outweigh its advantages. Firstly, there is no Russian language. This fact will stop the majority of the Russian-speaking audience from buying the full version. Secondly, the set of languages is still very modest. In particular, translation from English to French, Italian, Spanish and vice versa is supported. Of course, the application can help if you know English well, but then another minus pops up — the pricing policy. Each language pack is purchased for a separate amount. Of course, if there is support for the Russian language, only one EN-RU package would be enough for many, but even this option is not available yet. We hope that over time the number of supported languages will increase, and the price of the application will become lower.
