WhatsApp has released a fresh beta version of the messenger for iOS, which found WhatsApp beta for iOS 24.2.10.72: what’s new? / WABetaInfo the beginnings of a new feature: the ability to collect all your chats from different messengers in one section. The idea is for two people who use different messengers to be able to correspond without the inconvenience and registration in another service. A WhatsApp user will be able to write to a relative in Telegram, even if he is not registered with Telegram himself, and receive a response. On the contrary, it will also work.
This step is a forced measure in response to the European Union's Digital Services Act (DSA for short). As a major market player, WhatsApp came under the attention of regulators, and the owners were obliged to make the messenger cross-platform by March 2024.
The screenshot above shows how it will look: the "Third-party chats" section will appear above the list of regular chats and the archive. All cross-platform correspondence will be saved in it. In September, the same section was noticed in the beta of the messenger for Android. It seems that only the interface is being tested in both versions so far: it is not possible to configure it and receive messages yet. But by March, the function should be finalized and made publicly available — otherwise WhatsApp will violate EU law.
