Apple is looking for an AI and machine learning engineer in the Barcelona office to work on the Siri language model in Russian. The corresponding vacancy appeared on the official website AI/ML — Language Engineer (Russian), Barcelona / Apple companies at the end of October.
The job description notes that the Apple team is creating "a revolutionary user interface in more than 40 languages and dialects, using machine learning, natural language processing and modern software development methods." Simply put, we are talking about a redesigned Siri, which will better understand user requests and will be able to perceive a live language, rather than commands with a fixed structure.
Apple's experiments with neural networks have long been no secret: it is expected that a generative neural network will appear in iOS 18 — it is unclear what it will be used for. There have also been rumors about the wiser Siri for a long time, but there have been no specifics yet. It is quite possible that initially the function will be available only in English, and after a while it will be localized into other languages.
