With the release of the new firmware for iPhone – OS 3.1 – iPhone and iPhone 3G owners cannot connect to Exchange 2007 servers. Moreover, according to Apple representatives, this is not a mistake in the work, but on the contrary – everything functions as intended.
"The iPhone works with Exchange 2007 exactly as it should," says Apple spokesperson Natalie Harrison, "With the OS 3.1 operating system, data encoding has been added to the smartphone, which can be dealt with by IT administrators using the Exchange 2007 server. That is, it is the administrator who decides whether to give iPhone and iPhone 3G access to the servers."
Now OS 3.1 provides Exchange servers with the correct hardware encryption, which leads to a problem in the compatibility of iPhone and iPhone 3G with Exchange 2007 servers. (In the previous firmware — 3.0/3.01 — there was no hardware encryption, and the communicators connected to the Exchange servers without any problems.) If the user already If he installed OS 3.1 firmware on his iPhone or iPhone 3G, then he will have to contact Apple's IT administrator for help, who must disable hardware encryption for these smartphone models. (If the owner of an iPhone or iPhone 3G has not yet managed to update the OS firmware to 3.1, he may not do this – then there will be no problems with working with Exchange 2007.)
iPhone 3GS users have no difficulties with Exchange 2007, because hardware encryption was used in them initially. And when connecting to Exchange servers, the communicators correctly identify themselves.
