October 24 was released Version 119.0, first offered to Release channel users on October 24, 2023 / Mozilla Blog Firefox 119 update for Windows, macOS and Linux. It added several new features and improvements to existing ones — including the import of Chrome extensions, which began testing back in August. Now the function works stably and is available to everyone.

To use the feature, open the "Import browser data" option in the Firefox settings. Select Chrome from the drop-down list and make sure that extensions are selected in the list of data to import.

Only extensions available in the Mozilla store can be imported this way: Chrome-exclusive extensions cannot be added to Firefox.

The Firefox View mode has also been improved. Now it allows you to view tabs from all open windows and from all devices with the same account. Recently closed tabs are also displayed here. Another innovation is the ability to customize the sorting of the browsing history: by date or by sites. To open Firefox View, click on the folder icon in the upper left pane of the browser.

With the release of Firefox 119, the ability to add images when editing PDF files in the browser will gradually spread. You can add a hidden description to the images.

Now the browser saves data between sessions not only about active tabs, but also about recently closed ones — if you need to restore a tab that was accidentally closed last time. The update also adds the ability to restore a tab that was closed in a previous session, even if automatic session recovery is disabled in the browser (Ctrl + Shift + T).

If auto-update is disabled, you will need to download Firefox 119 manually.
