This book is ideal for those who want to increase their own social capital. Social capital is the connections between people and those pleasant moments in our lives that happen thanks to these connections.

Now building and maintaining connections with people is commonly called networking. Often people try to make acquaintances for the sole purpose – to benefit themselves. The result of such acquaintances will only be an unpleasant impression of yourself as a person. From now on, no one will want to do business, or even communicate. This is called negative networking.

The author of the book presents networking from the other side – how can you be useful to the interlocutor (positive networking ). It is selfless help to another that is the basis for establishing and strengthening ties.

We will never know how life will turn out in a year, two, and even more so ten. You need to appreciate people. Don't rush to qualify your contacts right now.

The book describes in great detail, it would seem, the little things, but it is thanks to them that you can become an excellent conversationalist and not get into an awkward situation when communicating. Here are a few of them:

  1. Remember that in different cultures, the rituals of handshaking or just greeting can be noticeably different from what we are used to.
  2. You should always have enough business cards with you. Never leave the house without them, Acquaintances can arise just in the elevator or on the street.
  3. Be an attentive listener. The interlocutor should understand that you pay enough attention to him during the conversation.
  4. Be ready to help if you have the right resources.
  5. Meet everywhere! Literally.

The book has many pages devoted to the role of business cards – how they should look, what information should be present, where to store them and how to present them to the interlocutor correctly. Also, with the help of an original business card, you can stand out and, perhaps, thanks to it, you will be remembered.

Putting everything together, we get a great book on how to make connections. All the tips in the book are very well described, each of them has its own examples.

The most important pledge for increasing social capital is networking should be liked and bring joy!
