Reposts appeared on TikTok in January 2022 and work on the same principle as in other social networks. Thanks to this feature, you can publish another user's favorite video in your feed, where all your subscribers will see it.
In addition to the ability to share content with a wider audience, reposts serve TikTok algorithms as one of the criteria for determining viral videos. Bloggers often use them as a tool for promotion, making mutual publications to maximize audience coverage.
Previously, your reposts were not saved anywhere, and if subscribers did not see them at the time of publication, then it was almost impossible to find out about them. The repost mark was displayed only on the video itself. To cancel the action, you had to find the same content through your browsing history and cancel the publication.
Recently, all reposts have been saved in the profile on the tab of the same name, which appears there after the first republication. Any TikTok user, even if they are not your subscriber, can view all the videos you have shared on this tab.
Many people did not like this innovation, as expected. Unfortunately, there is no privacy setting to hide this section. If your profile is public, then anyone can see all the content that you have interacted with or posted. Including reposts.
Therefore, it is worth taking a responsible approach to republications if you do not want to compromise yourself with some undesirable content.
As mentioned above, you cannot completely hide the reposts tab in your profile. Hiding individual publications in the literal sense of the word will also not work. You can only cancel your repost — then it will disappear from the corresponding section in the profile, as well as in the video itself. That is, there will be no traces left.
To do this, go to your profile and switch to the "Reposts" tab.
Open the video you want to hide and tap on the "Share" icon.
Click the yellow "Delete repost" button. The post will disappear from your profile.
