Many people place files, programs, important documents, etc. downloaded from the Internet directly on the desktop. As a result, the desktop looks terribly cluttered. An interesting way to avoid this is offered by LifeClever.
The essence of the methodology proposed by LC is the adaptation of David Allen's GTD system. On the desktop, you can create five folders for everything. Each folder has its own number so that they line up in the right order in the list.
- 0. Inbox. In this folder, you need to put all the raw files. For example, these may be documents sent by colleagues, downloaded installers. The number «0» indicates that the folder is temporary.
- 1. Actions. A list of actions to be taken will be generated here — install a large program, upload a file to the server, etc.
- 2. Incubate. It is suggested to put things here that are not yet completed or ready for execution. These can be articles that you plan to read, sketches for potential projects, etc.
- 3. Current Projects. Put the files of active projects here. You can create a subfolder for each project. When the project is completed, we move it to «4. Archive»
- 4. Archive. Archive of all completed projects and cases. There shouldn't be anything else here.
I think the technique deserves attention. It is only necessary to change it so that your features are taken into account. It was a good idea for me to create archives.
