Throw a stone into the water. Circles will show which task is more important

I have already written about one of the ways to remind yourself of important things — all-day tasks. You can use events only for reminders, or you can use the notes field to describe a mini-to-do list. Moreover, the Tab key will allow you to organize a hierarchy of cases, which can already be a simple and sufficient way of planning for mini-projects. I personally often do that. However, earlier I was often tormented by doubts about the sufficiency of the three usual flags of importance: Low-Medium-High. The question is not even in gradations, but in the absence of meaning.

important.

Therefore, I found another way for myself to determine the importance of the task. There are more than one or two of them without this, but mine is closer to me, as you can guess.

It is simple: you just need to think about how long the effect of the execution or non-execution of the task extends (Throw a stone into the water of your life). If the task does not affect even a week, push it aside, M.B. it does not need to be done at all, but morning exercises on your list affects several years, and maybe for a lifetime, which makes it obvious what is really important.

A few more examples:

  • Launching a new project at work is a year or two for sure, and in the future — new and new projects and waves for a large chunk of your life.
  • The report at the conference is months, maybe years, suddenly you are the new Steve J.?
  • Even a fleeting meeting with a business angel can change your life, as well as publishing a resume without checking grammar and spelling. It would seem a trifle, but according to my scale it turns out that each character in it is worth a week, if not more…

Such "long-playing" tasks should become your "VIP clients". They do not even require time, but an appropriate attitude. They need to be "blown away" and groomed, never a hack .

In my opinion, this is exactly how you can do something that you can tell your grandson about, don't show him a roll of crossed out and forgotten tasks, right?
