Scrum for one. How to effectively move towards the goal

If you are not engaged in software development, then probably the only way to hear the word Scrum for you is to be a rugby fan. But today's article is not about rugby, and not about the usual Scrum, but about how to apply this methodology to yourself.

how to apply the scrum technique for one person

Well, how to apply Scrum for yourself personally?

The main thing that is good in Scrum is a progressive and controlled movement towards the goal, taking into account the interference and resources available.

Do your best with what you have. It is not so difficult to despair when an important project for you is "hanging" due to the fact that you lack something to complete it. Yes, maybe right now you don't have everything you need to complete, but you definitely have a chance to start and take some steps to success with what you have. And then you may be visited by a blessing familiar to Scrum teams, in conditions of limited resources, workarounds and new ideas arise that bring you closer to the goal.

Constant self-control. If you are already using some kind of methodology for managing your affairs, then you already know firsthand about the benefits of a weekly review. Scrum for One suggests you make the reviews shorter, and spend a few minutes every morning honestly analyzing the situation. Find the problems and try to sketch out ways to solve them.

Define a clear short-term goal. Give yourself time and define the goal you want to achieve. Often distant goals are discouraged, and therefore it is better to split them into sub-goals.

Concentrate on one task. Since you are alone in this case, you are unlikely to be able to devote 50 working hours to one project without interrupting anything. However, you can always allocate a block of time today and a piece of the day tomorrow, when you will not do absolutely anything that does not relate to a specific project. Concentrate.

It seems that this does not pull on a full-fledged time management system, but there is something interesting in this. In any case, try asking yourself the question "What's stopping me?" when you get stuck in the next task, and then find the answer to the question "What can I do about this?".
