Stay always young at heart and never be afraid to start something new

"I'm not young enough to know everything."

Older people like to repeat this saying when younger and "green" people claim that they know better. Mature people with years of life and work experience behind them seem to know, if not almost everything, then a lot. And, on the one hand, this is very good, since they have already seen from their own experience what works and what does not. On the other hand, for mature people, this is one of the biggest brakes in creating a new one. Because they know that it will definitely not work, while the young ones are confident that they will be able to do everything efficiently and in the shortest possible time.

Martin, co—founder of Twocial, writes in his blog that you should try not to lose this ability - to believe that it's never too late to start something new and that everything will definitely work out. And if it doesn't work out, then you can start all over again.

If earlier we could think that you could easily cope with projects in a couple of nights, now before taking on certain tasks, you definitely need to read 3-4 books. And we will clearly calculate all the steps and anticipate all the problems that may happen. Or it may not happen. But experience always whispers in your ear that it's better to be prepared, and if everything looks too complicated, then it might be better not to take it at all.

There is a joke about students that if you ask him how much he can learn Chinese in, his answer will be: "And for how much is it necessary?" At the institute, it seems that nothing is impossible and you can cope with any task. Gaining experience of victories and failures, before diving into a new project with our heads, we carefully check the bottom — are there any pitfalls there?

The ideal option is to combine experience and knowledge with a complete absence of fears and this "I know for sure that this is a stupid idea and nothing will come of it." And there are living examples of this. And not only among the rich and famous.

For example, a 73-year-old grandmother from Poland, Warsaw, who decided to take up DJing at such an honorable age. If you still haven't heard of her, then meet DJ Wika!

In addition, I can give a very personal example — my mother. At the age of 35, she left for Italy, as she was not satisfied with working in the state structure (by that time she had 2 higher educations — a chemical technologist and economic statistics). Besides work, she was not satisfied with many other things and she took a risk. As a result, having learned Italian, at the age of 40 she entered a respected university on equal terms with Italians in the department of psychology, graduated with a red diploma and now works in a new specialty in kindergarten. This is an example of the simplest person, for whom no one asked or paid. And I think she won't stop there. The same applies to pensioners from the USA and Europe, whom I saw in quite a large number on Koh Samui in Thailand. They decided to settle in these places, because a quality life there requires much less money than in the same Europe. And with their pensions and savings, they can afford a truly heavenly life there.

And it's not about money or a simplified visa regime. The fact is that they do not see obstacles in front of them. If a person wants to find trouble and something that is almost impossible to accomplish, he will try very hard and will definitely find it. Thereby creating an excuse for himself why he is still sitting at an unloved job, when all his life he dreamed, for example, of opening his kindergarten or doing dolphin rescue in the Black Sea.

And in conclusion, I can't help but repeat the famous "Stay hungry. Stay Foolish" by Steve Jobs. Always stay hungry for new knowledge and opportunities. And always stay so reckless that this is enough to start something new, even if you are 73 and decide to radically change your life.
