So, Fieldrunners… This toy created for the touch platform (iPhone / iPod touch) belongs to the desktop tower defense genre I adore (DTD, not to be confused with GTD!), almost the only representative of which under the Mac is the Hordes of Orcs, famous for its graphics in the style of "tear out the eye".

The Besiegement that appeared under the iPhone suffered from the same problems, additionally being distinguished by an interface that was poorly adapted for the platform, including the precedents were clearly unhealthy. Unfortunately, there has not been an opportunity to watch Fieldrunners live yet, but the videos and screenshots look promising, and the reviews about the game are very positive. At least, for me, the appearance of such a toy is another reason to take a closer look at the "cars". The game exists only in the mobile version and there is no "desktop" version expected in the near future. A pity...

Aquaria is a rather interesting project that has almost become a long—term project. In short, the story is as follows: a couple of developers decided to make a toy with an unusual gameplay. In 2007, the Windows version of Aquaria was released, winning the IGF independent games competition. it is not surprising that the game about the adventures of a mermaid quickly gathered around itself a rather creative community, which immediately began to create graphics, music and even games "based on". Among the features of Aquaria, you can highlight perfectly rendered graphics, user-friendly interface, unusual gameplay and great music (which everyone promises to publish a separate disc). In May 2007, the creation of a mac port was announced, which will be distributed by the notorious Ambrosia, and just a year later closed beta testing began. Since then, almost no information about the port has been received. Sincerely hope that the version of Aquaria for mac will still appear, but in the meantime, especially impatient people can drive a Windows demo for CrossOver.

The situation is similar with World of Goo. Starting as an experiment, the game quickly managed to gain popularity and high ratings on gaming portals, becoming this year a finalist of the same IGF (independent games festival). So far, the Mac and Linux versions are promised “later”, the Windows version is quite functional under the same CrossOver. I hope that the wait is not long.

Oh, yes, according to the game itself ... The idea is simple: to hold a group of "little sticky things" (it's hard to come up with another description :)) from one point of the map to another, provided that the characters are able to organize themselves into some shaky structures. It may seem difficult in words, but in fact everything is much more fun: we connect the brain, read the introduction to each level and try to solve funny and not too tricky puzzles.
