Unfortunately, while the PwnageTool 3.1 program is useless for iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 2G and 3G players. iPhone 3G users with a modem blocked for a certain operator can update the phone's firmware only through an IPSW file created using this utility. Let me remind you that in the case of an update using the original Apple firmware file version 3.1, the firmware version of the modem will be raised, after which the Ultrasn0w utility for unlocking it, which allows you to use SIM cards of any cellular operators with the phone, will be useless. After processing the original firmware file using PwnageTool 3.1, the modem upgrade is removed from it. That is, the modem version remains from firmware 3.0/3.01, and it is unlockable.
